A Paradise for Snorkeling Enthusiasts

The Caribbean Sea is utterly fascinating, with its turquoise waters and clarity that will leave you in awe of this scenery. If you're thinking of visiting the Riviera Maya, you definitely have to spend a few days in Cozumel. To get there, you'll need to take a flight to Cancun and then the ferry to this enchanted place.

The island boasts unparalleled views, both above and below the water. It is one of the preferred destinations for snorkeling enthusiasts because it is home to part of the second-largest coral reef barrier in the world.

What can you do in Cozumel? Start your visit at Punta Sur, where you'll find a park and an ecological reserve. Observe the Celarain Lighthouse, a modern lighthouse that contrasts with the Caracol Temple, a pre-Hispanic construction. To visit the archaeological area, you'll need to make a prior reservation at the National Institute of Anthropology and History Center. The park is open to the public Monday through Friday from 9 am to 4 pm.

Discover downtown Cozumel and try a traditional marquesita, a type of thin, sweet tortilla filled with Edam cheese and hazelnut cream. If you prefer, enjoy an ice cream from Parque Juarez, a place so tranquil, beautiful, and silent that you won't want to leave.

Finally, take a tour of the Island Museum with its four exhibition halls where you'll learn about the history and marine life of the place nestled in the heart of the Caribbean. Admire the Public Clock, built in 1910 in the town of San Miguel, and then take a stroll to the Monument to Mestizaje, an ode to the Mexican mestizo race.
