ChankanaabChankanaab (a word that comes from the Mayan language and means small sea, is located within the Cozumel National Marine Park. San Gervasio is the largest, most important and unique official archaeological site on the island. It is also a sanctuary of Ixchel, goddess of fertility and love. For Mayan women it was an obligation to visit Cozumel at least once in their lives to pay homage to Ixchel.
